Squee gees will be the tool of necessity for the next couple of days as the snow continues to melt on top of the frozen ground. Hopefully the ground will thaw by the weekend and surface water can move into the soil.
While the crew waited on the snow to melt off the cart paths, they cleaned out the equipment storage building and painted the plywood walls a bright gray color this week. The staff is more than ready to get outside and work on the course.
Now our 4,000 square foot building of twenty years has a fresh bright appearance to start the new season. With our limited building space, we try to secure all the small power tools that might otherwise walk- away along with some specialty equipment like greens aerifiers and topdressers. Also, most of the utility carts are stored in the building in an effort to keep "everyone's seat" dry for the start of each new day. Nothing like a wet rear-end first thing in the morning to demotivate the crew before they get to the golf course.
